Copeland and Forsey-Sego's initial hearings are both scheduled for Nov. 5.

According to the probable cause affidavit, South Bend police responded to a reported fight in progress at a parking lot on S. Main Street. Upon arrival, police say two women exited a truck in the lot while yelling for help.

An officer then came around to the truck's driver side to find Copeland punching a man in the head, at which point the victim fell to the ground unconscious. Police then detained Copeland.

Authorities say Forsey-Sego was seen punching another man in the face, causing him to also drop to the ground. Police said Forsey-Sego then attempted to walk away but was also detained.

Police say Forsey-Sego was found to have a loaded handgun with a chambered round in his waistband.

The report states Copeland was fighting and physically resisting officers while they tried to search him.

Police say once at the county jail Copeland was found to have a baggie containing a white powder in his sock. Authorities say the powder field-tested positive for cocaine. The report states Copeland continued to resist jail staff as he was booked.

Officers then spoke to one of the women at the truck who stated there'd been ongoing issues with Forsey-Sego.

Investigators were told Forsey-Sego and Copeland came up to the group as they left a nearby bar. Copeland was allegedly holding a gun, which he then aimed at them.

Copeland allegedly pulled first victim out of the truck after he tried to deescalate an argument.

Copeland then allegedly struck the man in the face before Forsey-Sego joined in and "jumped" the man with Copeland. The woman reported that Copeland told Forsey-Sego to shoot the man, and that she had to plead with him not to.

The victim who was "jumped" was taken to a local hospital where police later spoke with him. He stated Copeland and Forsey-Sego had waited for them to leave the bar. He further corroborated what police had already been told.

The victim said after he fell to the ground under his truck, he didn't remember what happened.

The victim suffered injuries to his face, shoulder, and right knee. Hospital staff reported the victim suffered a broken tibia just below his kneecap.

Copelan was previously convicted of Weapons - Carrying Concealed on Aug. 7, 2023, in Berrien County.

Court records show Forsey-Sego is restrained by a Protection Order.
