SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- ICU and The Brick of Hope Ministries hosted a “Helping End Hungry” food giveaway for community members on Thursday.
Set up at ICU Ministries, volunteers began loading food into cars by 9 a.m. on Thursday.
The groups say they gave out over 300 turkeys and hams along with plenty of side dishes.
“I don’t want to give people enough to eat for one or two days. I want to give them enough to last them throughout a week or two, so I give it to them in bulk. I don’t give them the small canned goods. I give them the large cans,” said Pastor John Ward, pastor of The Brick of Hope Ministry.
The groups also donated several turkeys and hams to families at the Dickinson Fine Arts Academy in South Bend.
