MARSHALL COUNTY, Ind. -- On Saturday, Dec. 6, a freightliner trunk crashed into a Chevrolet Equinox, resulting in the driver's death.

The fatal crash occurred at the intersection of US 31 and S.R. 10, where a 2024 freightliner truck was driving north on US 31 approaching S.R. 10.

The driver explained a UPS truck crossed over S.R. 10, headed west, at which point they began to slow.

A 2022 Chevrolet Equinox was following the UPS truck driving west, but the Freightliner's driver was unable to slow down enough to avoid crashing into the vehicle.

The freightliner hit the Equinox on the driver's side. Both vehicles came to rest in the median just north of the intersection.

The Equinox's driver, 57-year-old Christopher Jankoviak, was pronounced dead on the scene. The vehicle's surviving passenger was flown to Memorial Hospital.
