Trooper pleads guilty to misusing fire department funds

Michigan State Police trooper Jesse Binns pleaded guilty Tuesday to failing to keep public money safe, according to Cass County Prosecutor Victor Fitz.

The case is being handled in Kalamazoo County.

Binns admitted to misusing funds from the Central Cass Fire Department account. He was the assistant fire chief at the time.

We have reached out to the Michigan State Police for more information on his status as a trooper. He has been suspended without pay since September 2018.
