Transpo to offer rides to new VA clinic

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Transpo is making it easier to get to the new St. Joseph County VA Health Care Center starting Wednesday.

The company says the 15A route will stop at the clinic hourly from 7 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Because of the new stop, current 15A stops at Douglas Road between Main Street and Grape Road, Grape between Douglas and Indiana Ridge Drive, Indian Ridge between Grape and Main, and Super Target will be taken over by the 15B route.

According to Transpo, the new service is a result of Senator Joe Donnelly, Congresswoman Jackie Walorski, the cities of South Bend and Mishawaka and the company all working together.

David Cangany, General Manager and CEO of Transpo said in a statement:

“We have a strong relationship with the VA and our goal was to ensure transportation would not be a barrier for those who have served our country. Our team worked to adjust the existing route without compromising service to other areas, demonstrating our commitment to providing connections to healthcare and employment opportunities.”
