Three-vehicle collision at C.R. 146 and S.R. 15: disregard of a stop sign
ABC 57 ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- At approximately 1:33 p.m. on Wednesday, a three-vehicle crash occurred in New Paris at the intersection of C.R. 146 and S.R. 15.
A Nissan Altima was traveling westbound on C.R. 146 and stopped at the stop sign on the east side of the intersection. The Nissan then proceeded through the intersection without allowing sufficient time for the Jeep Cherokee traveling southbound on S.R. 15 to brake or swerve to avoid a collision, causing the Jeep to collide with the Nissan's rear passenger side.
The impact of the crash caused the rear end of the Nissan to cross the centerline of C.R. 146, striking the front driver's side of a Toyota Tacoma which had been stopped at the stop sign on the west side of the intersection.
The driver of the Jeep Cherokee was treated on scene by New Paris Fire Department medics for complaints of wrist pain before being transported to Goshen Hospital for further treatment.
The driver of the Nissan was cited for Bodily Injury and Disregarding a Stop Sign/ IFA.
