SOUTH HAVEN, Mich. -- South Haven Area Emergency Services responded to a blazing fire around 6:05 a.m. Wednesday morning after neighbors reported hearing a large explosion in Geneva Township.
The property, located on C.R. 687 near 63rd Street, lost a barn, a greenhouse, and a storage building in the fire.
"Radiant heat from the fire was threatening the nearby residence, but was quickly controlled," the SHAES said. "Dogs and chickens in other buildings were not injured."
Fire crews say water was shuttled by tankers from a draft site at the Gingerman raceway approximately a mile away and an excavator was brought to the fire scene to assist in extinguishing the remaining rubble.
