Three Rivers Menards preparing to partially reopen

ABC 57

THREE RIVERS, Mich. -- A local department store forced to shut down due to extreme tornado damage could be back in business in the very near future.

A representative from Menards confirmed to ABC57 that the chain's Three Rivers location aims to partially reopen as soon as Friday, May 22. This comes after this past March's tornadoes that tore through the area and caused millions of dollars in damage.

The aim is to open specific parts of the store while the rest is under construction. This first wave would include the lumberyard, patio block, and warehouse portion of the store.

Parallel to the partial reopening plan, 68 Menards employees at the store were temporarily laid off. Impacted employees include cashiers, stockers, cleaner operators, and more. Impacted employees were given the option to either transfer to another local Menards location or be temporarily laid off.
