ELKHART, Ind. -- The Elkhart Fire Department is reporting injuries to three of their firefighters after a house caught fire the morning of Jan. 28.
Fire officials say they were called to the 1500 block of Lawndale Road where they found heavy smoke and fire in the back of the house that was quickly spreading to every room.
"The homeowner was home at the time and was able to evacuate without injuries prior to our arrival," an EFD official said. "The fire was extinguished quickly however, three firefighters sustained injuries. We have no details on the firefighter’s injuries, but they were all non-life threatening."
The fire was under control by 10:06 a.m. and the cause is still under investigation.
