SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The Marine Corps League of Sant Joseph Valley Detachment 95 on Parry Street in South Bend celebrated the 249th birthday of the Marine Corps forming.
Many veterans showed up in support of the organization's birthday, as they held a potluck, watched Irish dancers, and listened to a speech by the Commandant.
The main message being spread, freedom always comes at a cost.
"A lot of people the businesses that thank us, and strangers just off the street, no matter where we're at, they come up to you and tell you, thank you. They don't realize how much that means to us we give a lot, and we sometimes lose a lot too," stated Lifelong Member of the Marine Corp since 1982 Timothy Ray Homeleski.
Many veterans speaking up tonight to say how happy they are to have served their country.
