Does Santa experience turbulence?
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Holiday travel will surely be busy early this week across the country, so it’s fitting that the forecast will be busy as well.
However, while most of us will have to dodge some rain or snow at times this week, we aren’t expecting any major disruptions.
For Michiana, Tuesday morning could still be a little breezy, especially along the lakeshore. By the early afternoon, however, our weather turns fairly tranquil. The best time to travel will be Tuesday afternoon, Tuesday evening, and Wednesday morning.
A weather system will move just south of us Wednesday night into Thanksgiving morning. Rain and snow showers are possible during this time frame. This storm system could cause some delays for those traveling by air. You should be able to drive through these showers with only minor disruptions.
Thanksgiving travel could be tough in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic because of this same system potentially bringing rain, snow and wind by Thursday afternoon.
Black Friday is the day we are watching closely locally, as lake-effect snow still seems likely for southwest Michigan. However, as of Monday evening, snow accumulations should be relatively minor with the snow ending by Saturday.
Stay with ABC57 News for the latest weather forecasts for the holiday week and beyond.
