ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. --  Local SWAT teams, the St. Joseph County Metro Homicide Unit and the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms served two search warrants in the county Tuesday morning in connection with an ongoing weapons investigation.

The first search warrant was served at a home in the 10000 block of Ireland Road in Osceola.

The homeowner, Lonnie Painter, 57, was taken into custody without incident in connection with a federal arrest warrant for felon in possession of a firearm.

Painter is a convicted felon who is not allowed to possess firearms, according to the federal probable cause affidavit.

An unidentified female was also taken into custody at the home.

The agencies also served a search warrant at 219 East Tutt Street in South Bend, the location of Painter's business, Plastics Fabricating & Distributing.

Property records show Painter owns both the house in Osceola and the plastics factory.

Authorities indicate the investigation could also be related to the skeletal remains found in Osceola last week in the woods off McKinley Avenue.

Around 1 p.m., police were at the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens site.

The entrance to the cemetery off McKinley Avenue was blocked off by a police cruiser, behind the funeral home.
