UPDATE: Suspect arrested following standoff with SBPD SWAT at Laurel Woods Apartments

UPDATE TWO: SBPD reports one man has been taken into custody following a situation where the city's SWAT Team was called to Laurel Woods Apartments.

Police say around 9:30 a.m. Monday, the SJCPD and the US Marshals Task Force arrived in the 600 block of Laurel Woods Court to locate a wanted person.

Upon arrival, police say they made contact with the man, who then threatened to shoot law enforcement.

The officers then retreated at which point they called SBPD's SWAT Team and Hostage/Crisis Negotiation Team for assistance.

The apartment building was then evacuated.

Police say after utilizing distraction devices, the SWAT Team took the suspect into custody around 3 p.m.

The suspect was taken to the hospital to be evaluated.

Another subject was removed from the residence and ultimately released.

No serious injuries were reported.

UPDATE: ABC57's Annie Kate is on scene where police told her there is an armed suspect who has barricaded themself inside.

One of the buildings was evacuated around 9 a.m. Monday.

SBPD were called to assist on scene around 11:30 a.m.

Tenants on scene say they've been sitting outside for hours.

SWAT officers were still entering and exiting the building as of 2 p.m.

ORIGINAL STORY: SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The St. Joseph County Police Department reports South Bend SWAT was at Laurel Woods Apartments in South Bend to assist after SJCPD attempted to serve a warrant Monday morning.

The South Bend Police Department is now in control of the situation.
