Sustainability Starts with Students: What is Sustainability?

ABC57 meteorologist Maci Tetrick's weekly series entitled Sustainability Starts with Students.

What is sustainability? How do you live a life that helps the planet and our natural resources? Join Meteorologist Maci Tetrick as she teaches students all about making Earth-friendly choices.

When you sustain something, it means you support it, or keep it healthy.

To be sustainable means to use a resource carefully, so that the resource isn't used up completely or damaged.

When you live sustainably for the planet, you are making decisions that support Earth's resources. Think about the resources Earth gives us: sunlight, water, food, air, plants, and animals, to name a few.

If we use all of these at one time, Earth could run out of the supplies it gives to us. What would happen if we used all of the water on Earth at the same time? We couldn't even imagine a life like that.

Keep watching this series to learn all about making sustainable choices, or Earth-friendly choices, in your everyday life. Feel free to share this series with your classroom, children, or any other students, who want to go green.
