KOSCIUSKO COUNTY, Ind. -- A 21-year-old Silver Lake man is facing several charges after allegedly fleeing a traffic stop on Aug. 7, before crashing into two other vehicles.

The Indiana State Police reports a trooper near the intersection of US 30 and S.R. 15 when he witnessed two Chrysler 300S make several moving violations around 4:27 p.m.

The trooper then activated his lights and sirens after getting behind the two cars to make a traffic stop.

Police say the Chrysler directly in front of the trooper then accelerated abruptly before making unsafe lane changes while cutting off other drivers and entering the center turn lane.

The trooper initiated a pursuit of the suspect vehicle, which continued south on S.R. 15 at over 100 mph in the center turn lane. The report states the trooper ended the pursuit due to concerns of public safety.

Shortly after that, the trooper observed white smoke coming from the intersection of Detroit and Fort Wayne Streets.

The trooper arrived to find the suspect vehicle had collided with a pick-up truck and an SUV, which had both been stopped at the intersection.

Police say the suspect, later identified as David Gabriel Rodriguez Jr., continued trying to drive forward despite the crash. Authorities say the woman in the passenger seat exited the car and surrendered to police.

The report states the trooper, and a responding Warsaw police officer, began giving Rodriguez verbal commands, which he ignored after getting out of the car.

Police say Rodriguez then reached back inside the car before fleeing on foot. Other Warsaw officers arrived and pursued Rodriguez, eventually taking him into custody.

The woman was taken to a local hospital for treatment of injuries from the crash. Rodriguez was taken to Kosciusko County Jail.

He is charged with Resisting Law Enforcement with a vehicle, a Level 6 Felony, Resisting Law Enforcement, a Class A Misdemeanor, Reckless Driving with Injury, a Class A Misdemeanor, Leaving the scene of a crash with injury, a Class A Misdemeanor, Leaving the scene of a crash property damage, a Class B Misdemeanor, Speed Contest, a Class B Misdemeanor, and Operating with no financial responsibility prior, a Class C Misdemeanor.
