Suspect arrested and charged in attempted stabbing in Edwardsburg
ONTWA TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- Police responded to reports of a stabbing at Colonial Acres Mobile Home Park on Saturday at 4:02 p.m., and arrived to find an individual with multiple stab wounds, according to the Ontwa Township Edwardsburg Police Department.
The stabbing victim was identified as a 63-year-old man from Edwardsburg.
Emergency Medical Services kept the man in stable condition while Edwardsburg Fire officials set up a landing zone for a MedFlight to South Bend.
The man was then airlifted to South Bend Memorial Hospital for his injuries.
The suspect involved in the stabbing reportedly fled the scene before officers arrived.
Police say that the suspected stabber entered and stole multiple vehicles while the investigation was underway.
With the assistance of Cass County Dispatch, a BOL was put out for the stolen vehicles.
Later in the afternoon, a Cass County Sheriff's Deputy spotted one of the stolen vehicle at a traffic stop.
Officials conducted the arrest without incident and transported the suspect to the Cass County Jail.
The suspect has been identified as a 27-year-old man from South Bend, and was charged with Assault with Intent to Murder, Assault with Intent to do great Bodily Harm Less than Murder, Unlawful Driving Away of an Automobile (twice) and Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, according to police.
The case remains under investigation.
