Student found with handgun at Riley High School Friday morning
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Riley High School Principal Shawn Henderson sent out an email to parents and staff Friday just after 10 a.m. about a handgun being found in the backpack of a student following an anonymous tip.
South Bend Community Schools confirmed with ABC57 that at around 8:30 a.m., RHS administration received the tip via the district's QuickTip portal about a possible safety concern, which was immediately investigated.
School officials say no students or staff were harmed or in danger.
Officials added that they take all safety concerns and reports seriously, and that their established safety protocols were followed to address the situation
