Student brings knife and lighter to Eastern Pulaski Elementary Wednesday
Eastern Pulaski Community School Corporation PULASKI COUNTY, Ind. -- The Eastern Pulaski Community School Corporation announced via a letter to district families that a student brought a knife and electric candle lighter to Eastern Pulaski Elementary early Wednesday.
School officials say the kids were calling the lighter a taser, which was incorrect.
Parents were notified and the items were seized. No staff or students were in danger at any time according to officials.
The letter released to families reads as follows:
"Dear Warrior Families,
Earlier today, a student brought a knife and an electric candle lighter they were calling a taser to Eastern Pulaski Elementary. School administration and SRO Record immediately investigated the situation, and the items were confiscated. Parents were contacted, and the situation was addressed promptly. At no time were students or staff in danger.
We are sharing accurate information with our families and community to help prevent misinformation. To protect student privacy, we cannot share additional details.
The safety of our students and staff is always our top priority. Please remind students to share any safety concerns with a trusted adult — “If you see something, say something.”
