Strong Avenue Neighborhood Association to address Elkhart Clinic environmental issue

ELKHART, Ind. -- The Strong Avenue Neighborhood Association is inviting community members and residents to attend its upcoming meeting addressing the ongoing investigation into the unidentified vapor environmental issue occurring at the Elkhart Clinic which resulted in its temporary closure. 

This meeting will take place on Tuesday, March 4, at 7 p.m. in the library of Mary Daly Elementary School.

Speakers from the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) and local emergency services will be present to provide insight and details about the ongoing situation and answer any questions from community members. 

Guest speakers will include Director of IDEM’s Northern Regional Office in South Bend Jim Weingart, Branch Chief for IDEM’s Petroleum Branch in Indianapolis Tim Veatch as well as a representative from the Elkhart Fire Department.

According to the press release "The discussion will cover the basis of the environmental issue, response efforts, and steps being taken to address potential health and safety concerns. Community members will have the opportunity to ask questions. All residents are encouraged to attend and stay informed about environmental and public safety matters affecting their neighborhood."
