Storms briefly delay paving of Ireland and Ironwood intersection

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The City of South Bend announced Thursday evening that its original plan to pave the recently reworked intersection of Ireland Road and Ironwood Drive will likely be delay by just a few hours.
"Paving work originally scheduled to begin tonight at 9 p.m. at the intersection of Ireland Road and Ironwood Drive has been briefly postponed due to anticipated overnight storms," officials said.
"Work is now scheduled to begin at 3 a.m. on Friday and is expected to be completed by noon the same day."
Lane restrictions and temporary closures will be in effect during paving operations, and, although the intersection will remain open to traffic, motorists should expect significant delays.
"Drivers are strongly encouraged to use an alternate route during paving hours," city officials said.
