BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. -- ABC57 News crews are in the field in Southwest Michigan, where the hardest hit communities of Michiana are, following Thursday night's storms.
Our crews along with local power companies have observed several downed trees, power lines, and power poles.
Indiana Michigan Power reported at 1:30 p.m. Friday, there were still about 26,000 customers in the area without power.
I&M damage assessors report there's more than 220 individual spans of downed wires, and over 50 broken or damaged power poles.
Indiana customers are expected to have power restored by Friday night, while Southwest Michigan residents might not have power restored until late Saturday night.
