State police investigating homicide at Miami Correctional Facility

BUNKER HILL, Ind. – Indiana State Police is investigating the homicide of an inmate at the Miami Correctional Facility on Monday.

At 4 p.m., correction officers found 23-year-old Jamar Greer suffering from a stab wound in the day room of the L Housing Unit.

Prison staff started medical treatment and Greer was taken to the hospital, where he later died.

On Tuesday, a forensic pathologist conducted an autopsy and determined Greer’s death was a homicide caused by a stab wound to the chest.

The investigation found that another inmate stabbed Greer with a homemade knife.

The suspect is known to investigators and has been separated from other inmates.

This is an active investigation.
