ELKHART, Ind. -- St. Vincent De Paul, a church in Elkhart celebrated their Parish Festival.

Father Craig the event organizer, says the church community feels like a small community, "I think the parish really is an extension of their family, and actually, that's our motto here at Saint Vincent de Paul, we call ourselves one Catholic family, and so really the church functions as an extension of the community, but really as an extension of the home, of the family."

The church has both Spanish and English masses that are well attended.

"Es muy importante porque venimos de países diferentes y encontrar aquí el servicio en español en nuestra Iglesia, con nuestra fe y la Iglesia Católica es algo muy importante,” said Julio, an event attendee.

Brenda Gonzalez, an event attendee says this festival is a way to get to know the community, "It's a way to get together as a community and kind of celebrate outside, you know, outside of Mass, and get to know each other's families and spend that time together."

The event featured activities, a rummage sale and all kinds of food that was part of a fundraiser for the parish.

"We're so happy to be able to serve all the community here in Elkhart and it's again, it's a great blessing. We have a great parish, and I'm so blessed to be the pastor here," said Father Craig.
