St. Joseph County legislators encourage students to apply for Indiana House Page Program

State of Indiana

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- St. Joseph County legislators, including State Rep. Dale DeVon (R-Granger), State Rep. Jake Teshka (R-North Liberty), and State Rep. Tim Wesco (R-Osceola), are encouraging Indiana students ages 13 to 18 to apply for the Indiana House Page Program.

The program allows students to spend the day assisting lawmakers and staff, touring the Indiana Statehouse, and listening in on the 2025 legislative session.

"The page program is a great learning experience, and students should not miss out on the opportunity," DeVon said. "Our community has many future leaders who are civically engaged, and I would recommend they take advantage of this program."

Applications are open now and can be found online.

You can also find out what days are available during the 2025 legislative session, which starts Jan. 8 and must end by April 29.

"Serving as a page for a day gets you a closer look at how our state government operates," said Teshka. "Students are able to witness legislative proceedings and learn more about the Statehouse."

State officials say students will have the opportunity to page on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays during the legislative session.

Students will receive an excused absence from school, and large groups can participate on Wednesdays only.

"Being a page is such a great opportunity for young Hoosiers to learn more about state government and see what happens at the Statehouse for a day," Wesco said. "I encourage students to not wait and sign up today."

To schedule a group, contact the page program director at 317-232-9410 or [email protected].

Students are responsible for their own lunch and transportation to and from the Statehouse in Indianapolis.
