South Bend traffic alerts starting October 23rd

SOUTH BEND, Ind. --The City of South Bend Department of Public Works announced traffic alerts starting Monday, October 23rd, depending on weather. 

Beginning October 23rd, the southbound lane of Lafayette Boulevard from Marian to Madison streets will be closed due to sewer connection work. 

Southbound traffic will be detoured west on Marian Street, south on Willaim Street, and east on Madison Street to rejoin Lafayette Boulevard. 

Restrictions will be in place during this project, with an estimated completion date of Friday, October 27th, depending on weather. 

Also starting October 23rd, Michigan Street from Ireland Road to Chippewa Avenue roundabout will be resurfaced and milled. 

This street will be open to traffic, but motorists should expect major delays and use alternate routes if possible.
