SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The South Bend Police Department held its back-to-school cookout at Southeast Park. This event had food, drinks, local vendors, and even a South Bend Police Department inflatable. This back-to-school cookout was not only for students but for the community to meet officers, they might only see while fighting crime.
Captain Kyle Dombrowski of the South Bend police department emphasizes this event is trying to get kids ready for learning and break down the barriers between the community and the officers who serve and protect.
