SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The City of South Bend announced the launch of the Energy Assistance and Solar Savings Initiative (EASSI) for the fourth year in a row to help local non-profits, schools, community organizations, and businesses with installing solar panels and making energy efficiency upgrades.

“We are excited to continue working with nonprofits and businesses in their journey to energy savings.” said Director of Sustainability Alex Bazán.

City officials say the program is a partnership between the city, IFF, and CDFI Friendly South Bend.

Officials say the program provides community organizations with a free energy assessment, matching grant funding up to $30,000 for projects, and resources to address gaps in finance projects.

Applications for the program are currently open, and the deadline is Feb. 24.

City officials say organizations who previously participated in the program may apply for funding for eligible projects identified in their energy assessment.
