South Bend fire crew responds to residential fire late Tuesday night

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The South Bend Fire Department responded to a residential house fire Tuesday night in the 100 block of E. Victoria St. where crews were met with smoke and flames showing from an exterior wall in the back of the small, one-story, wood framed home.

Fire officials say the call came in at 11:55 p.m. on Tuesday night and the fire was quickly extinguished with extension noted to the inside wall of the home.

"The homeowner had safely exited from the home with no reports of injuries," fire officials said. "The homeowner was put in contact with the Red Cross and no report of injuries noted to any firefighters."

Authorities say the origin and cause of the fire remain under investigation.
