South Bend celebrates graduation of 16 new firemen

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- 16 firemen have graduated from the South Bend fire department.

The ceremony was held at the new 11-11 club at Four Winds field, with the celebration filled with family, friends, firefighters, and paramedics.

Assistant Chief Brandon Roart says, "The 16 recruits graduating today will bring us as closely to fully staffed as we've been since COVID. So, this is an exciting day for us. It's an exciting day for the members, and it's going to cut down on the required amount of overtime that our members have been working."

The new recruits each received an envelope after the ceremony informing them of their first assignments.
