Silver Beach County Park receives donation of water rescue device

BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. - Berrien County Parks announced Silver Beach County Park was offered the donation of an E.M.I.L.Y. Water Rescue Device.

E.M.I.L.Y. stands for Emergency Integrated Lifesaving Lanyard and is a tool used at beaches for drowning prevention and water rescue.

A resolution was presented to and approved by the Berrien County Board of Commissioners to accept the donation.

Berrien County Parks staff are working on procedures for use, training, and maintenance of the device.

The device is expected to be available for use by first responders from multiple agencies, including collaborative training.

The E.M.I.L.Y. Water Rescue Device will be presented to Berrien County Parks in June along with interagency training by the manufacturer.
