Silver Beach celebrates music day
SAINT JOSEPH COUNTY, Mich. -- Silver Beach hearing the tunes of an over 100-year-old organ this afternoon, as they celebrated Music Day, inviting people to find the 'Magic in Motion'.
Disney themed decor was scattered all throughout the premises, paying tribute to local dream makers Louis Wallace and Logan Drake.
Silver Beach Carousel President Suz Schalon tells ABC57 how this event came about and why it ties into the legend of Walt Disney.
"We're all about the magic in motion, and it is said that Disney came here when he was considering building his park, and he was looking at other amusement parks around the country, and at that time. That current carousel was all white with all jewels, and so he had the idea to make all of his horses at Disneyland white, and so that makes them easier and faster for people to get on and off," stated Schalon.
The original Silver Beach Carousel was sold after the park closed in 1971, but the current carousel honors its legacy with six replica horses, all in the style of the original white ones.
