Local healthcare professionals warn of high flu rates
SOUTH BEND, Ind. - A deadly shooting took place at the 300 block of Lafayette Street in South Bend at the Phillips 66 gas station.
The call came in at 2:26 a.m. Saturday and the Metro Homicide Unit was called in to investigate.
The caller reported of a large fight taking place in the parking lot to dispatch and gunfire was heard in the background during the 911 call.
South Bend police arrived to the scene where they located a few individuals left at the scene as everyone had fled the area once the gunfire started.
Officers located a female victim, De Ashay Thompson, 24, who appeared to have suffered at least one gunshot wound.
South Bend Fire Department medics arrived and transported her to Memorial Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Police are investigating at this time and are asking for the public's assistance in solving this murder.
They are asking anyone who was at the gas station prior tot the shots being fired to contact Metro Homicide if they have any information on this case.
No arrests have been made at this point.
