ELKHART, Ind. -- The Elkhart County Homicide Unit is investigating a shooting that left one dead Monday morning. 

The Elkhart Police Department said they were dispatched to Daylite Inn on Cassopolis Street just before 1 a.m. after receiving reports of a shooting with injuries. 

When police arrived, they found an adult male with an apparent gunshot wound inside a room at the Daylite Inn. Officials said that victim was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Police said the victim's name is being withheld pending family notification.
