The second week of March starts off quietly in Michiana and on a warm note with highs near 70 degrees today. Clear skies in the morning and afternoon turn slightly cloudier in the evening and overnight as lows drop to the mid 50s across our area. Tuesday morning and afternoon remain generally quiet with warm air pooling across our forecast area as highs reach the low 70s. Beginning Tuesday evening, severe weather is possible for Michiana and likely for areas to our west like Chicagoland. From 7 PM EDT Tuesday to 7 AM EDT Wednesday, plan on scattered strong to severe thunderstorms moving from west to east. The tornado risk is low, but the best chance for seeing one is before midnight. After midnight, the main concerns are damaging winds and flooding on Wednesday morning. Rain continues through Wednesday and dies down Wednesday night, leaving behind much cooler and quieter weather the rest of the week.
