Several arrested after police respond to fight at motel

ELKHART, Ind. -- Elkhart Police arrested several people after being called to the Budget Inn for reports of a fight late Saturday evening.

Around 11:30 p.m., police responded to the Budget Inn on Cassopolis Street for reports of a fight with weapons.

At the scene, Shauna Jerraid, 31, was taken into custody on preliminary charge of resisting law enforcement. Jarraid allegedly resisted being put in handcuffs and hit an officer in the mouth with their head.

Another person at the motel, Zila Carrillo, 29, was taken into custody on a preliminary charge of disorderly conduct.

A 16-year-old at the scene was loud and yelling at officers, reports said. He was asked to lower his voice but he refused and continued to be loud and yell profanities, police said.

He was arrested on a preliminary charge of disorderly conduct and was released to a family member. His case will be referred to juvenile court.

A 14-year-old allegedly attempted to interfere with an officer who was detaining another female, and ignored officer commands, reports said. She was arrested on preliminary charges of resisting law enforcement, interfering with law enforcement and disorderly conduct. She was then released to a family member. Her case will be referred to juvenile court.

While officers were at the Budget Inn, another officer responded to the Pulse gas station, just down the street, for reports of a man with an unknown medical condition.

The victim told police a man shoved his girlfriend, so he confronted the man. The man then battered the victim, reports said. The victim then walked from the Budget Inn to the gas station.

The victim was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
