OSCEOLA, Ind. - The search continues for an Elkhart man who family members say has been missing since early Thursday morning.
Family members say 53-year-old Roberto Vasquez was last seen at his home in Elkhart, and hasn’t shown up since.
An Elkhart woman tells ABC 57, she was driving along the bridge at the intersection of County Road 16 and Ash Road, early Thursday morning, like she always does, when she spotted a vehicle, a purple Scion alongside the road.
She called police and she says when they opened the driver side door, they found two shoes resting on the pedals.
Family later confirming, it was Roberto Vasquez’s car.
Rachel Gearhart, Roberto's ex-wife, says he left his Elkhart home and was headed for work around 4:20 a.m., Thursday.
But two hours later, his car was found on a bridge.
Just moments before dozens of close family members, friends, and other community members gathered for a vigil---water rescue crews from Baugo Township continued to search under the bridge, but found nothing.
Family says Vasquez is 5 ft 4 in tall, 170 pounds, with brown eyes and a medium build.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Ellkhart Police Department.
