Rochester schools honor student who passed away in motocross crash

Good Family Funeral Home, the Straeter family - Mason Lee Straeter

ROCHESTER, Ind. -- Rochester Community School Corporation announced they will be closing the high school and middle school buildings immediately after normal dismissal time on Wednesday to honor Mason Lee Straeter, a student who passed away on July 31.

Straeter passed away while riding on his family's own track.

Rochester High School will host his visitation on Wednesday from 3:30 to 8 p.m. in the gym.

The school district asks parents to help honor the family by making sure all students leave their respective schools at dismissal.

Superintendent Jana Vance says this will allow the parking lots to be available for family and friends attending the visitation.

The Celebration of Life services of Straeter will be streamed live at 10 a.m. Thursday.
