Rochester man with firearm was shot dead by Indiana State Police on Saturday
ROCHESTER, Ind. -- Indiana State police reported to a domestic disturbance involving a firearm at 10:48 a.m. on Saturday.
When officers arrived at the residence, 37-year-old Steven T. Harding of Rochester, was located inside armed with a firearm and pointing in the direction of the police.
An officer and deputy discharged their weapons, striking Harding. Despite life-saving measures, Harding succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. A notification to his family has been made.
There were no officers injured in the incident. The officer and deputy involved in this shooting will be place on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
This is the standard procedure for the Rochester Police Department and Fulton County when an officer is involved with a shooting.
