UPDATE TWO: Edwardsburg Public School District confirmed it was on lockdown Wednesday afternoon due to a heavy police presence nearby.
The district sent the following email out to parents around 3:10 p.m., Wednesday:
"Dear EPS Families,
The district has been given the all clear by law enforcement, and we are currently in the process of lifting our lockdown procedures.
Secondary student bus riders are now loading buses and will be headed home shortly. All secondary walkers and impacted secondary bus route riders may be picked up by parents at Edwardsburg Middle School. Any additional impacted bus riders, including elementary students, will be contacted by our transportation department.
Please note that elementary bus runs will be delayed as we work to safely transport secondary students home first. There may also be some delay for elementary car riders at their buildings as we work to bring all classrooms out of Lockdown.
We appreciate your patience, cooperation, and support throughout today's situation. The safety of our students and staff will always remain our top priority.
Sincerely,
