NILES, Mich. – Fitness advocate Jake Steinfeld and students at Ring Lardner Middle School cut the ribbon for the new DON’T QUIT! Fitness Center on Friday. The Fitness Center is a gift from the National Foundation for Governors’ Fitness Councils.

Ring Lardner is one of three schools Michigan recognized as DON’T QUIT! Fitness Champions for their creativity in promoting physical activity and wellness.

A presentation was held in the gymnasium on Friday for the ribbon cutting, and students got to use the equipment for the first time.

Jake Steinfeld is the Chairman of the National Foundation for Governors’ Fitness Councils, a national program that has opened fitness centers in many states.

The implementation and construction of each center is achieved through private financial contributions and partnerships with companies such as Coca-Cola Company, Anthem Foundation, Wheels Up and Nike.

The Foundation’s goal is to build a nation of the fittest, healthiest kids in the world.
