Public invited to open house at Niles Law Enforcement Complex

ABC 57

NILES, Mich. -- The Michigan State Police (MSP) Niles Post and Niles City Police Department announced they will host an open house on Sunday, July 14 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 1600 Silverbrook Ave. in Niles.

Organizers say this is an opportunity for community members to learn more about what troopers and officers do.

Authorities add there will be resources from both agencies presented, including fully marked patrol vehicles, Humvee, the bomb squad, a crime scene technician, and a fire truck and ambulance.

The event will also have food and activities such as child identification kits, a bounce house, dunk tank, drunk goggles, and a drunk/drugged driving pedal kart.

MSP officials also state they're actively looking for individuals interested in joining them.

They add there are several trooper vacancies throughout the state, including the Niles Post.

Recruiters will be at the open house to answer any questions you or someone you know may have about hiring requirements and process.

If you are unable to attend, but are interested in a career with the MSP, you can contact the Niles Post at (269) 683-4411 and ask to speak with Trooper Higgs.
