Protesters gather outside of the South Bend Police Department

SOUTH BEND, Ind.— Protesters speaking out over the death of George Floyd gathered outside of the South Bend Police Department.

West Sample Street was blocked by protesters near the police department but traffic was able to get by around 9 p.m.

Crowds walking through the streets holding signs demanding justice for Floyd’s death could be heard chanting “Say his name, George Floyd” and “No justice, no peace” on Saturday.

South Bend Police officers could be seen on top of the department’s roof during the protest.

Police said officers are on top of the building to get a better look at the crowd.
