Probate judge chooses to retire instead of running for re-election
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Judge Peter J. Nemeth has been the St. Joseph Probate Court Judge for the past 19 years.
But his time on the bench has come to an end; he's choosing to retire.
Looking back at his career, he told us there have been some bright spots that made it particularly rewarding.
"When I have a parent who tells me how well their child in now doing after having come through the system, or having the child himself tell me that he's gotten a scholarship offer to a junior college and he's not coming back here to go back to the hood, and fall back into the same ways, but striking out on a new path," said Judge Nemeth.
Voters will head to the polls a week from Tuesday to elect his replacement and vote in the Primary.
