ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- The Portage Township Trustee Office is hosting an Eviction Sealing Clinic Tuesday, designed to assist community members in removing evictions from their records.

On Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Portage Township Trustee Office at 340 Columbia Street, South Bend, the Eviction Sealing Clinic offers a chance to meet with volunteer legal professionals.

Old evictions can remain a part of a person's public record, making it more difficult to rent a new home years later. If a person is eligible, removing or sealing these evictions from their record can increase their chances of gaining safe housing.
