UPDATE: One confirmed dead in reported shooting at Arbors at Riverbend Apartments Monday afternoon

UPDATE: The Elkhart County Homicide Unit has confirmed to ABC57 the shooting victim is deceased, and they are not releasing the identity until family is confirmed notified.

The Elkhart County’s Sheriff’s Office said they got the call at 2:43 p.m. Monday afternoon.

"Deputies arrived on scene and confirmed that an adult male was suffering from apparent gunshot wounds," the Elkhart County Sheriff's Office said.

Investigators with the Elkhart County Homicide Unit are taking over the investigation.

ORIGINAL: OSCEOLA, Ind. -- Deputies with the Elkhart County Sheriff's Office responded to a call at Arbors at Riverbend Apartments after 3 p.m. Monday.

A witness told ABC57 News they were driving in the apartment parking lot when they heard two gunshots around 3 p.m. and saw an individual lying on the ground followed by a car speeding off.

The witness said residents began to come out of their apartments and tried to provide life saving measures for the individual before they were taken away by ambulance.

There's no other information available at this time.
