POLICE: Man dead with apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, woman in stable condition
COLOMA, Mich. -- A Coloma woman has survived what appears to be an attempted murder-suicide on Wednesday night, according to the Coloma Township Police Department.
Officers say that they responded to a welfare check on Becht Rd. in Coloma Township and while on their way to the home Berrien County 911 dispatchers informed them that a husband possibly shot his wife and then himself inside the house.
The call came into dispatch around 8:41 p.m.
"We have a juvenile caller on the line who lives [on] Becht Rd. [They are] now at the neighbor's house," a dispatcher told responding officers. "[They] just keep saying 'we need your help,' ... something with [their] parents. I don't know if they're arguing or what."
The dispatcher goes on to tell officers that the caller says their dad shot their mom and then himself.
When authorities arrived on scene, they located a 32-year-old woman who had been shot and a 41-year-old man that was dead from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Medic One ambulance arrived on scene and took the woman to a local hospital where she is listed in stable condition.
