Police investigating possible police impersonator in Elkhart

ELKHART, Ind. – The Elkhart Police Department is investigating a report of a possible police impersonator in Elkhart.

On Friday, an officer was called to County Road 6 for a report of a possible police impersonator.

The victim reported that she was driving northbound on C.R. 17, approaching Six Span bridge, when she saw a black Subaru driving down the middle of two lanes.

Once the victim passed the Subaru, she said the white male driver began tailgating her and flashing his headlights, according to reports.

The victim said the vehicle followed her south onto Jeanwood Road where the victim then pulled to the side of the road.

The male driver pulled up next to her and displayed what looked like a badge but did not display any weapons, reports said.

The vehicle also did not have red or blue emergency lights, according to reports.

The male then drove away.

Police are investigating this incident.
