Police identify victim in crash between SUV and motorized wheelchair

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Mich. – The Three Rivers Police Department has identified the victim of a crash involving an SUV and a motorized wheelchair on Monday evening. 

At 6:38 p.m., officers from the Police Department and the Three Rivers Fire Department were called to the area of Millard Street and Erie for reports of a crash involving an SUV and a motorized wheelchair.

The wheelchair rider, identified as 49-year-old Tony Hoyt of Three Rivers, was transported to a hospital and later died at the hospital, police said.

An Accident Investigator from the Michigan State Police assisted in the investigation.

The investigation is currently awaiting results from the post mortem examination and the accident investigator's report.
