ELKHART, Ind. - A fight led to a deadly shooting Thursday night at an Elkhart apartment complex.
Sgt. Chris Snyder of Elkhart Police says officers were called just before 9:45 p.m.to the River Run Apartment complex in the 700 block of Monroe Street.
Investigators say a 17-year-old male was shot after an argument, and died a short time later at Elkhart General Hospital.
Police spoke with neighbors and witnesses all morning but say have not released any information about potential suspects.
Detectives continued to collect evidence from the scene until about 8:00 a.m.
River Run Apartments is no stranger to shootings in the past. In August, another teen was gunned down in broad daylight next to the apartment complex on Middlebury Street. Before that, a shooting happened in November 2015 and another in February 2009 when an Elkhart police officer was shot in the face and lived, despite his injuries.
The Coroner's Office says it expects an autopsy will be performed Saturday morning for the 17-year-old who was shot and killed on Thursday.
