NORTH LIBERTY, Ind.--- A police appreciation event was held in North Liberty Sunday. The event celebrated law enforcement officials across St. Joseph County.
"We saw a lot of unnecessary criticism of police departments across the country and we could tell that there are some morale issues in departments across the country," said Joe Layn, the event's organizer.
The appreciation event included music, food, and activities for law enforcement officers and their families.
"Any time we get community support, officers talk about it for the whole week," said Harvey Mills, President of the South Bend Fraternal Order of Police. "They absolutely love it."
Organizers say they're hoping this event boosts morale for officers in the county and the celebration continues down the road.
"I think we’re going to do it again," said Layn. "I enjoyed it. It was fun"
